A Tory councillor who received death threats and sexist abuse after her pro-Brexit stance on BBC Question Time has hit back at her online trolls.

Clr Elena Bunbury, Conservative member of Holme Valley Parish Council, was hit by a tirade of online abuse after appearing as an audience member on the TV debate show, and said this time it had reached a whole ‘new level of grim’.

In an act of defiance the 21-year-old posted two photos of herself wearing bikinis with a message to the trolls labelling her a ‘stupid slut’.

On Twitter she wrote: ‘Following my appearance on the #bbcqt, the #FBPE (follow back pro-European Union) are sending death threats, labelling me a stupid slut, posting private photos of me and outing me as bisexual online.

‘People voted for Brexit so Brexit is what they deserve.

‘You speak about potentially businesses leaving but I think what we also seem to forget in this discussion is the amount of businesses that might come in.

‘The amount of new jobs that might come in, our relationship with the commonwealth that can build all those businesses that come in.

‘Brexit is the new political football, like the NHS was, that is pushed around to prove points and we need to remember that.

‘I do not see no deal as a bad deal.’
