Tottenham and Sevilla are in talks to swap starlet Bryan Gil with Erik Lamela

Tottenham and Sevilla are in talks over swap deal that would see Spain starlet Bryan Gil move to north London and Erik Lamela head to LaLiga as new boss Nuno Espirito Santo shapes his squad

  • Tottenham are in talks to sign young midfielder Bryan Gil from Sevilla
  • The £25m deal would see Argentine Erik Lamela heading in the other direction
  • Gil, a 20-year-old winger, spent last season on loan at LaLiga side Eibar
  • The Spaniard is currently in Tokyo competing in the Olympics for his country

Tottenham are in talks with Sevilla over a deal to sign exciting left-winger Bryan Gil from Sevilla.

The two clubs are in the final stages of discussions about a player-plus-cash move which would see Spurs pay Sevilla around £21m for Gil, with Erik Lamela also heading in the other direction to Spain.

Last season was a breakout La Liga campaign for Gil, 20, who was a regular during his year-long loan at Eibar and broke into the Spain squad.

The north London outfit will reportedly send Erik Lamela the other way

Gil has made a total of 21 appearances for the club but spent last season out on loan at Eibar.

He featured 29 times – scoring four goals – but failed to prevent their relegation as they finished rock bottom of LaLiga and were sent down to the second tier.

Gil made his debut in 2019 aged just 17 and became the first child of the 21st century to score in the Spanish top division after netting against Rayo Vallecano in the same season.

He helped his country reach the semi-finals of the Under-21 Euros earlier this summer and is now part of Spain’s Olympic squad in Tokyo.

Sevilla – who finished fourth in LaLiga last season – would be able to offer Lamela a new lease of life after watching his Tottenham career stagnate following 255 appearances which saw him score 37 times – including two memorable rabonas.

Spurs and managing director of football Fabio Paritici are beginning to accelerate their transfer plans after a summer dominated by their search for a manager.

That ended when they appointed former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo at the end of last month.

Goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is poised to join from Atalanta on an initial loan deal.

Spurs have held talks with Atalanta over a move for defender Christian Romero after cooling their interest in Lyon’s Joachim Andersen, who impressed on loan at Fulham last season.

Talks are also continuing over a deal for Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Lamela is one of a number of players Spurs are willing to move on this summer.

Spurs are also open to offers for the likes of Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.
