Tottenham ‘are ADAMANT they will not sell Harry Kane to Manchester United this summer and would rather lose him on a free transfer next year’ – despite reports the England forward ‘only wants an Old Trafford move’

  • Tottenham will rebuff any approaches for Harry Kane from a domestic rival
  • Kane has been strongly linked with a potential move to Manchester United
  • Reports suggest that United will attempt to negotiate a deal early in the window

Tottenham are adamant that they will not sell Harry Kane to a domestic rival in summer despite Manchester United’s strong interest, according to reports.

The Red Devils have had the England captain as one of their leading transfer targets for months now and, as the transfer window approaches, are considering a bid.

Kane has one year remaining on his current deal in north London, which would typically force a club into selling the player, and has been linked with a move away.

However the Evening Standard now suggest that, despite his expiring deal, Kane will not be allowed to leave Spurs for another English club in summer.

Instead, the club would prefer to see him leave on a free transfer the following season.

The reports claim that Manchester United will test Tottenham’s resolve over Kane ‘early in the transfer window’, which will be unlikely to persuade Levy.

The Spurs chairman would, apparently, favour a move abroad for Kane, to the likes of Real Madrid, as opposed to him joining one of their Premier League rivals.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a potential move to the Santiago Bernabeu as a replacement for French talisman Karim Benzema, who could leave this summer.

However, it would take a lucrative bid from any club in Europe to persuade the Tottenham chairman to part ways with the club’s all-time top goalscorer.

It’s unlikely that there’d be interest on Kane’s part to leave the Premier League anyway, given that he’s 47 goals away from matching the goalscoring record set by Alan Shearer.

The England skipper signed off the 2022-23 campaign in brilliant fashion, as he notched an emphatic brace during Spurs’ 4-1 win away at Leeds on the final day.

There had been suggestions that Kane ‘only wanted’ a move to United during the summer window, as the Red Devils interest became apparent in recent weeks.

The 29-year-old reportedly has no intention to move abroad despite claims of interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG.

Mail Sport reported this week that United feel Tottenham’s price for Kane will be £100million.

With uncertainty surrounding Spurs’ immediate future and next boss, the Red Devils are not expecting under-pressure Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to agree to sell easily.

United have been linked with numerous strikers should a move for Kane prove fruitless this summer.

Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen has been repeatedly linked to the club, with Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund, Benfica ace Goncalo Ramos and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani also reportedly targeted.
