Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has revealed why he appointed Ange Postecoglou as the club’s new manager.
Following a tumultuous campaign in which Tottenham finished eighth and had three different men in the dugout, Levy has turned to Postecoglou in an attempt to improve the club’s fortunes.
Postecoglou, who has signed a four-year deal, received much praise for the work he did at Celtic, which included winning the domestic Treble this season as well as the Scottish Premiership and the League Cup in the previous campaign.
Levy has been impressed by Postecoglou’s attacking style of play, which should prove popular with Tottenham supporters.
In addition, Levy believes that Postecoglou will give first-team opportunities to Tottenham’s youngsters.

Speaking to representatives of Tottenham supporters’ groups, Levy said: ‘We made a conscious decision that we wanted a coach who would understand what we really wanted as a club, which was to play attacking football, to enable everyone to enjoy coming to a match and be entertained, and also someone who understood the importance of the academy.’
Postecoglou himself addressed Tottenham’s fans and insisted that he ‘won’t leave any stone unturned’ during pre-season as he prepares his squad for the new season.
‘Hi everyone, it’s great to finally get started as the manager of this great football club,’ Postecoglou told SPURSPLAY. ‘I’m really looking forward to our task ahead.
‘I think it’s an exciting opportunity for us to now set off in a new direction, play football and create an environment that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club, hopefully a team you can all be proud of and, more importantly, get excited by.
‘I can assure you that, right through pre-season, we won’t leave any stone unturned – myself, the staff and the players – to make sure that, when the league comes around, you’ll all be as excited as I am about the season ahead.

Postecoglou has a lot of work ahead of him in the transfer market, with Tottenham eager to improve their squad.
In addition, there remains uncertainty over the future of Harry Kane, with the striker attracting interest from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
Prior to taking charge of Celtic, Postecoglou managed Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos and he was previously manager of Australia.
