  • Manchester United are also said to be interested in the 28-year-old Spaniard

Tottenham have reportedly earmarked Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.

The Spurs captain indicated in an interview earlier this week that he is ready to depart North London take on a new challenge elsewhere.

Lloris has just one year remaining on his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium and preparations within the club were already underway to find a successor to the 36-year-old.

According to a report from the Mirror, Raya currently sits top of the club’s wish list in their hunt for a new No 1.

Raya has become one of the most highly-regarded stoppers in the Premier League since winning promotion to the top flight with Brentford in 2021, and has been subject to interest a number of top clubs.

Manchester United have repeatedly been linked with a move for the 28-year-old, with the club’s goalkeeping situation going into next season still unclear with David de Gea coming under intense scrutiny for his performance in their FA Cup final defeat to Man City on Saturday.

Raya current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium is due to expire at the end of next season, and Thomas Frank may allow the Spain international to depart the club this summer to avoid him leaving on a free at the end of his contract.

After joining Spurs in 2012, Lloris has gone to amass more than 400 appearances in all competitions for the club, but his form has faltered in recent years.

Lloris made a pair of high-profile mistakes in defeats to Arsenal and Man City early in the year, and later revealed that he was struggling mentally to get over France’s defeat in the World Cup final.

Spurs have also reportedly shown an interest in Liverpool’s 24-year-old backup ‘keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

An academy graduate at Anfield, Kelleher has emerged as Ireland’s No 1 but is unlikely to break into the starting XI with the Reds as long as Allison remains at the club.
