The midfielder joined Spurs on an 18-month loan deal last January from Benfica, with the club holding the option to make the move permanent for £45million.

Fernandes’ two appearances this term have come in the Carabao Cup against Chelsea and in the FA Cup versus Marine earlier this month. He was also left out of Tottenham’s Europa League squad.

But now Fernandes has been confirmed by the Turkish giants on Deadline day in a loan spell that will last until the end of the season.

The deal was almost thrown out after Fernandes recently tested positive for coronavirus.

However, he travelled to Turkey in a special ambulance plane in order to get the move over the line.
