Ivan Perisic ‘is expected to complete a medical and sign a two-year contract worth £180,000-a-week with Tottenham TODAY’ as Antonio Conte lines up the Croatian star as the first signing of his summer rebuild

  • The Croatian is expected to be Tottenham’s first summer signing under Conte
  • Ivan Perisic formed a key part of Inter Milan’s title-winning side under the Italian
  • Alessandro Bastoni, however, is reportedly not keen to leave Inter Milan

Ivan Perisic looks set to become Tottenham’s first summer signing under Antonio Conte and will reportedly earn £180,000-a-weel as the Italian goes to work rebuilding his squad.

The Croatian, who won the league under Conte at Inter Milan in 2020-21, is said to have stayed at Spurs overnight on Sunday ahead of completing his move to the north London club today.

The Evening Standard report that the player, who can play as a winger or left-wing back, will sign a two-year contract with Spurs after leaving Inter on a free transfer.

Conte recently sought assurances from Spurs that they would back him adequately in the market, leading to a subsequent meeting that ended with the Italian committing to remain at Spurs for the forthcoming season.

The club also recently announced an injection of £150million from the owners, with the north London side releasing a statement saying the money was to be invested ‘on and off the pitch’.

‘The equity injection provides the Premier League Club with greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch,’ they said.

The Telegraph have claimed Perisic’s deal will be worth £180,000-a-week.

This suggests his signing is in view of Conte believing Ryan Sessegnon, Tottenham’s left-wing back for the backend of last season, could turn into a star under his tutelage.

Perisic is an experienced head who has played for some of Europe’s top clubs as well as making an appearance in the World Cup final in 2018.

In addition to winning the league with Inter under Conte, the season prior Perisic was on loan at Bayern Munich and won his maiden Champions League title while there.

It has been reported, however, that Perisic’s Inter team-mate Alessandro Bastoni is at present not keen on a move away from Milan.

The defender had emerged as Conte’s top target, but the former Chelsea boss may now need to look elsewhere in his hunt for a new centre back.
