TOWIE bosses give the show’s stars a pay rise just hours after the cast threatened to strike

TOWIE bosses have reportedly given the show’s cast a pay rise 24 hours after the reality stars threatened to strike over their £100-a-day pay.

The reality stars are said to have been given the raise, brought about in an effort to prevent a delay to filming, within hours of cast members refusing to attend the ITV Summer Party earlier this month.

A TOWIE star, who did not wish to be named, told The Sun: ‘We gave TOWIE bosses an ultimatum — pay us or we won’t work. We all refused as a group to go to the ITV summer party.

‘We said we won’t turn up for work and to show just how serious we were we didn’t turn to the recent ITV do. But they gave in the following day and a lot of us have had a pay increase.’

Another source confirmed the rise telling the publication: ‘Many of the cast were due to have their contracts renewed and so this tied in to the increases.’

The rise will now see its cast be placed in four separate pay bands based on each member’s popularity, with Bobby Norris, 32, Georgia Kousoulou, 28, and Chloe Sims, 36, expected to earn the most with £450 an episode.

MailOnline has contacted a TOWIE spokesperson for comment.

The reports come after the show denied claims that its youngest cast members had been excluded from talks for the show’s ten year reunion.

Producers refuted claims that the latest batch of recruits had been left out of celebrations to mark the show’s decade on TV after reports initially claimed that the show’s youngest cast members had not been included in the reunion show.

A TOWIE source previously told MailOnline: ‘We have only just started to think about the tenth birthday which isn’t until autumn 2020.

‘No cast have been approached yet but we would not exclude our current cast who are at the heart of the show.

‘There’s already so much excitement and speculation around the tenth birthday episodes and we know fans would love to see some former cast return but ideally we’ll be celebrating with cast old and new as they’re all part of the show’s success story.’

Last month it was revealed that TOWIE producers were planning to cast the show’s original line-up for a one-off special which would mark the drama’s decade-long anniversary.

The reality show, which follows a group of young adults as they navigate their lives in the town of Brentwood, Essex, first hit the screens in 2010.

The first series was heavily centered on the love triangle of Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger, and Lucy Mecklenburgh and also saw the likes of Amy Childs, Billie and Sam Faiers, James ‘Arg’ Argent, and Lydia Bright star in the show.

The show, which is now in its 24th series, has since seen its original cast members propelled into the limelight.

After starring in the show’s first three series from 2010-2012, Mark went on to star on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and even landed his own show Mark Wright’s Hollywood Nights.

The former TOWIE star has also gone on to launch a radio career on Heart Radio where he presents the Club Classics show every Friday and Saturday evening.

TOWIE’s other most notable alumni Gemma Collins has gone on carve a successful career of her own and recently began filming for her own reality series Diva Forever.

Speaking about her decision to leave the ITV show Gemma told The Daily Star Sunday: ‘I would look in the mirror and wonder who I was. There was so much pressure.

‘I used to have so much diarrhoea constantly. I used to be in bits before filming or going out. My guts were in bits and I was never off the toilet. It was becoming a nightmare but all that has stopped now I’ve left.’
