A female teacher and school fitness coach now sells activewear for a living after a court heard she repeatedly had sex with a 16-year-old male student.

Sarah Joy Guazzo, 29, was found not guilty of three charges of ‘procuring’ a child for sex at a Townsville high school.

But Daily Mail Australia can reveal Ms Guazzo has nonetheless been banned from teaching and now works in retail for a sportswear chain.

A Queensland District Court jury was told Ms Guazzo met the boy during a bomb hoax in March 2016 and struck up a flirty relationship.

The jury was told she gave the boy alcohol and had sex with him in secluded locations around Townsville – after claiming she was not having it at home.

According to an ABC account of proceedings, Crown prosecutors told the jury that Ms Guazzo asked the boy ‘have you ever thought of having sex with a teacher?’

Prosecutors argued Ms Guazzo had ‘enticed’ him into the relationship.

The Crown’s Dominique Orr reportedly told the jury the boy was an ‘easy catch’ for Ms Guazzo in her search for sexual gratification.

‘She told (the student) how she and her husband hadn’t slept together in awhile – she said he wasn’t giving it to her,’ Ms Orr was quoted saying.

But defence barrister Stephen Zillman reportedly told the the jury she was treated ‘like a piece of meat’ by the boy, who he argued did not feel taken advantage of.

‘You might have got the impression that he was not virginal – quite an experienced practitioner in the art of love-making,’ Mr Zillman said.

The boy was at the age of consent at the time, and it was not an issue at the trial, with the court hearing argument the student was a ‘willing’ participant.

The jury reportedly took just 15 minutes to acquit Ms Guazzo of three charges of procuring a young person for carnal knowledge.

WHAT CHARGE WAS SARAH GUAZZO ACQUITTED OF?

Ms Guazzo was acquitted of three counts of procuring a child for carnal knowledge.

The Queensland Criminal Code says the charge is defined as: ‘A person who procures a person who is not an adult or is a person with an impairment of the mind to engage in carnal knowledge (either in Queensland or elsewhere) commits a crime.’

Deanne Fishburn, director of the Queensland College of Teaching, told Daily Mail Australia Ms Guazzo’s registration was suspended on October 12, 2016.

‘A teacher is not allowed to teach in a Queensland school if their registration is suspended,’ Ms Fishburn said.

‘Her registration remained suspended until she was removed from the register.’

The state’s Education Department confirmed Ms Guazzo is no longer an employee.

Meanwhile, an employee Ms Guazzo’s current workplace said she was ‘taking time off work this week’ and declined to comment further.

Ms Guazzo has torn down her social media accounts.
