Tracey Ullman impersonates Jeremy Corbyn for new show

She’s already mastered the leading ladies in politics through her impersonations of Theresa May, Angela Merkel and Nicola Sturgeon.

Now Tracey Ullman is stepping it up a gear and taking on Jeremy Corbyn for her new sketch show.

The 57-year-old looks strikingly similar to the Labour leader as she dresses in a grey wig, scruffy beard, shabby beige suit and Mr Corbyn’s trademark red tie.

Tracey Breaks The News, which is broadcast on Friday, will also see Miss Ullman take on France’s 64-year-old first lady Brigitte Macron as she wears a blonde wig and heavy fake tan.

Miss Ullman had viewers in stitches earlier this year when she played the Prime Minister, donning a grey wig, dark suit, red nail polish and a wary smile.

In the sketch, Theresa May was seen at home with her husband, Phillip, as they discuss boy and girls jobs and she receives a Vivienne Westwood dress before saying she is ‘strong and stable’ when asked by a computer how she is.

Miss Ullman has also played Angela Merkel as an enthusiastic London tourist, Nicola Sturgeon forcing SNP ideology on J.K Rowling and the Duchess of Cornwall as the world’s worst babysitter.

Speaking about the new three-part BBC series Miss Ullman said that comedy is needed to counter the ‘current terrifying doom spiral’.

She said: ‘I am thrilled to be allowed to Break the News again with my fantastic team of writers and performers. It’s wonderful that there is so much comedy to be found in the world’s current terrifying doom spiral.’

She added: ‘I can’t wait to play new characters including the glamorous FLOF (First Lady of France) Brigitte Macron and a certain Labour leader, who we imagine has a marvellous sense of humour and will no doubt be delighted to see himself depicted by a middle aged woman (please don’t shave your beard off Jeremy, we’ve just had one made). Onward!’

Earlier this year her television sketch series, Tracey Ullman’s Show, lost out on an Emmy Award to Saturday Night Live.

On the loss, she told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show: ‘I didn’t think I would win, being up against Saturday Night Live was pretty tough this year.

‘Thank God for Saturday Night Live, I had a smashing time!’
