An arachnophobic tradesman was captured working on a section of metal with no idea a giant spider was lurking on the other side.
His mate filmed the skin-crawling encounter in Australia and posted the clip to TikTok with the caption ‘when you know someone hates spiders so you say nothing’.
Some social media users found the viral video, which now has 4.8 million views, hilarious but others said the prank went too far.

‘OMFG, that’s pure evil,’ one person wrote.
Others said: ‘I would hate you’ and ‘mate that’s f**king cruel’.
‘Bro not cool. Look at the size of that thing!’ Another said.
Although there was conjecture among international TikTok users on whether the creepy-crawly was actually a spider or a scorpion – Australians were quick to identify the creature.
‘I guarantee all of you it was a huntsman they basically run s**t here in Australia,’ the person joked.
While they may look dangerous and intimidating huntsmen are non-venomous and do not pose any serious threat to adults.
