Heart-stopping moment a ‘lollipop lady’ has a gun pointed at her as two masked armed robbers leave a jewellery store after hitting one staffer in the face with the butt of a gun

  • Two armed robbers smashed their way into a jewellery store on Wednesday
  • One of the men held bystanders at gunpoint outside of the Gold Coast store 
  • His accomplice went inside the shop and demanded staff hand over jewellery
  • He then hit a female staff member across the face with the butt of his gun
  • The two men then hopped into a getaway car, driven by a third man, and fled 

A traffic controller had a gun pointed at her by two masked armed robbers who were fleeing from a jewellery store after hitting an employee in the face with a gun.

Terrifying video captured by witnesses showed the two robbers running out of the store on the Gold Coast on Wednesday afternoon.

The two men brandished a gun and a hammer and smashed their way into the shop on Ashmore Plaza on Cotlew Street around 3pm.  

One of the men held bystanders at gunpoint outside while his accomplice went inside the store and demanded the staff hand over jewellery.

Terrifying video captured by witnesses showed the two robbers running out of the store on the Gold Coast on Wednesday afternoon

Police confirmed the female staff member was hit across the face with the butt of the gun. 

The pair, clad in black clothing and face masks, stole jewellery from the shop while terrified shoppers watched.

They then fled the scene in a blue commodore, driven by a third accomplice. 

The getaway car was found abandoned nearby shortly after.  

The three men are still on the run. Police have urged the public not to approach them.

Paramedics treated the shop worker at the scene for minor injuries.

Police investigations are continuing.
