Monday morning’s peak hour commute was thrown into chaos when two buses collided in the middle of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

One of the buses rear-ended the other just after 9am, closing one of the three northbound lanes.

No one was injured in the incident but heavy traffic is still backed up across the Anzac Bridge to Victoria Road.

The Cahill Expressway, Western Distributor and City West Link have also been affected by the pile-up.

The crash site has since been cleared, but motorists have been advised to allow plenty of extra travel time as roads approaching the bridge remains heavy.
