A young man has been killed in a horror crash on Sydney’s Northern Beaches just days before Christmas.

Emergency services rushed to South Creek Road at Cromer following reports a Holden station wagon collided with a parked boat about 8.20pm Friday.

The front seat passenger, believed to be a 29-year-old man, died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The 56-year-old driver of the car was not injured and taken to Northern beaches Hospital for mandatory testing.

He was released pending further inquiries.

Officers from Northern beaches Police Area Command set up a crime scene, where specialist forensic police began investigating the circumstances into the crash.

The fatal crash is the fifth on NSW roads in a matter of days, with police issuing warnings about driving during the Christmas period.

It comes after a six-year-old boy died in a single vehicle car crash in the state’s Murray River region on Thursday.

The tragedy took place at Moulamein Road, Moulamein – about 110km north-west of Deniliquin.

Another child, a four-year-old boy, who was also travelling in the car, was treated by Ambulance paramedics from both NSW and Victoria, before being flown to the Royal Children’s hospital in Melbourne.

The driver, a 31-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
