Tragedy as one-year-old boy dies after being run over by a ute at a rural home

A toddler has died after he was hit by a ute at a rural property.

The one-year-old boy was near the back of his home in Queensland’s regional town of Septimus when he was struck by the car just before 7am Friday.

Ambulance and police attended the private property but were unable to revive him.

‘Ambulance and police attended and located a one-year-old male child. CPR efforts were performed on that child but unfortunately he has passed away,’ Senior Constable James Dolby told The Daily Mercury.

Police are investigating the incident, though Snr Const Dolby says there is nothing indicating suspicious circumstances at the moment.

The RACQ Central Queensland Rescue helicopter was called to the scene, but the child was not taken to hospital.

‘At this point in time Forensic Crash Units and the Mackay Child Protection Investigation Unit are investigating the matter,’ Snr Const Dolby says.

Snr Const Dolby says at this point, the incident is being treated as a tragic accident.
