SKIPPING

Research has suggested that skipping rope, which is a favourite past time for lots of children, can burn more than ten calories a minute.

It also helps to quickly boost fitness levels while simultaneously strengthening your arms and legs.

‘The trick is to have realistic targets – skip for 45 seconds and then rest for 15 seconds for a ten minute block,’ Dan told Body & Soul.

Work towards your goal slowly and periodically – and build up your strength.

WEIGHT TRAINING

Dan said that the outdated idea that women shouldn’t be touching weights or doing weight training is ‘ridiculous’ as it is something that burns fat fast.

He suggested resting for three to five minutes between reps so that your body adapts.

‘The trick is to try and lift weights with higher rep targets and smaller rest intervals. This will burn a lot of calories – and continue – post-training – to burn,’ he revealed.

Fitness blogger Katie Lolas (pictured) is also a F45 fan and has said: 'I started back at training strong and sweaty with BBG abs, pre-work and a session of F45 cardio after'

WALK AFTER YOU EAT

Dan has said that the last thing you should do after eating a meal is not do anything at all.

This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to do anything intense, just something to ‘keep your engine running’ such as a light walk to improve your digestion.

PUSH YOURSELF

Pushing yourself as hard as you can when it comes to exercise will help you reap the rewards as it results in fat-burning benefits.

Exercise goals differ from person to person but Dan said that if your goals relate to weight loss you should try something he calls a ‘body shock session’.

He explained that this involves picking six exercises and aiming to exhaust yourself completely three times on each.

Dan said an ‘all or nothing’ approach isn’t effective and should be avoided.

‘Aim for routine and set realistic and attainable goals for how many times a week you can train,’ he added.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia last week ahead of being announced as the global face of F45, Oklahoma-born fitness model, Paige Hathaway, shared that her body is a product of a strict diet as well as exercise.

She has been a pescatarian for six months and says she follows the simple 80-20 method for healthy eating.

‘I have an 80-20 mentality, so I’ll eat a lot of fish including salmon and white fish and I love making fish tacos or bean burritos with avocado and salsa,’ Paige said.

‘I will still have a dessert every now and then… it’s all about balance. I do enjoy healthy eating though because it makes me feel amazing. It’s not a chore to me.’

Paige warns one of the biggest mistakes people make – and one she was guilty of herself – is not taking a break or allowing yourself to live your life.

She says eating in moderation and having rest days is key to maintaining a balanced lifestyle and limits binges or relapses.

‘Don’t overtrain at the gym. Your body needs to rest and recover, and if not you won’t end up building the muscle,’ she said.

‘Slow down, breathe, be more balanced. Go out to dinner with your friends, don’t miss out on life.’

According to the Instagram sensation, the worst habits people can get into is forgetting to pair dieting with exercise and laying too much guilt after slipping up.

‘If you mess up, don’t feel guilty. It can have a trickle effect and you end up at square one again,’ she said.

‘Results aren’t going to happen overnight. And find something that really works for you, whether it be the 80-20 method, going vegan, keto, pescetarian or the 5-2 diet.’
