Sydney train services have been thrown into chaos after a commuter was injured at Town Hall station.

Sydney Trains took to Twitter to announce some outbound services had been delayed on Saturday afternoon. 

‘Delays to services heading away from the city due to a person injured by a train at Town Hall.’

Trains travelling through platform three at the CBD station were affected, as well as the north shore line and services leaving the city. 

Commuters took to social media to vent their frustration when trains on platform three at Town Hall suddenly came to screeching halt about 4.30pm.

While some speculated a commuter had been hit by a train, NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia they had responded to an incident but couldn’t provide other details. 

‘We can’t say how long delays will take as police are currently undertaking their investigations,’ a Sydney Trains spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
