Our villa provided a stunning, uninterrupted view across the Aegean Sea. The infinity pool flowed seamlessly into the horizon, providing the perfect setting for watching the sunset.

As we explored further, admiring our picturesque surroundings, we came across a hidden dining area fitted with a kitchenette and barbecue – an ideal space for dining al fresco with family and friends in the privacy and comfort of your own home away from home.

To make the most of the Greek sunshine, stylish loungers and parasols are neatly arranged around a poolside area where you can unwind with a refreshing cocktail (or two!). If you’re after a more secluded spot, there are also two secret outdoor rooms which provide a spacious and serene place to relax.

After exploring all corners of the outdoors, we were shown around the main house. The living area blended contemporary design with traditional touches from the island – whitewashed walls were accentuated by soft furnishings in various shades of blue.

Winding up the narrow, marble staircase to the bedrooms, the tiny windows and cubic shape, reflected the Mykonian architecture and interiors we had seen in the main town. The bedrooms were light and airy, each with a balcony providing another picture-perfect view of the surroundings.

A stay at one of Bright Blue Villas properties provides an immersive experience, which perfectly merges the island’s distinct character with modern, boutique luxury.

YOU recommendation of things to do:

Mykonos has plenty to offer – firstly, its beach paradise (25 in total). If you’re looking to relax, swim, party or partake in water sports, then head down to Ornos, Platys Gialos and the trendiest, Psarou beach. If it’s culture you’re looking for, you have to discover the narrow streets of Hora (aka Mykonos Town). Lined with restaurants, churches, museums and galleries. The streets are lined with bougainvillea; it’s enchanting. Or head down to Little Venice where you’ll find a quartet of windmills on a hillock – a prime spot to watch the sun go down.

Where to eat

Thea Estiatorio, situated within The Belvedere hotel, is a must try in Mykonos. With a focus on personal service and great attention to detail, we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience. Boasting stunning views across the island, this bijou restaurant serves up a fresh take on authentic Greek cuisine, pivoting back to the past with a keen eye on the future. We started with a delicious meal of pita and truffle oil, Katiki Domokou (cream cheese made from goat milk) and black salt. For the main course: ospria; bio-beluga lentils, black-eyed peas, aubergine, Katiki cheese puree, artichoke and semi-cured mackerel. This fresh dish was the perfect light meal in the hot climate on the island. To book a table, visit belvederehotel.com.
