Travellers have taken over a supermarket car park and threatened terrified shoppers by attacking their cars.

A woman was heard screaming in fear as two men ordered her to leave after she had parked up at Sainsbury’s in Colindale, north London.

One of the travellers threw himself onto the bonnet and pounded his fists, while he stared menacingly at her through the windscreen.

His friend shouted at the woman and her driver and chased after their car as they quickly reversed away from the scene.

The shocking incident was captured by dashcam footage and showed the extent of the traveller community in the background.

A fleet of cars and other vehicles had taken up a large section of the car park with dogs and even chickens running around.

The woman and her friend were photographers who had visited the car park to take photos of the travellers.

One of the snappers, who are asked not to be named, said: ‘We were both very afraid.’
