Travis Scott’s Super Bowl halftime show appearance likened to ‘bad American Idol audition’

Travis Scott’s Super Bowl halftime show appearance with Maroon 5 likened to ‘bad American Idol audition’ as its muted for profanities in lyrics

He got an animated introduction from SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward.

But it seems fans would rather have had the song Sweet Victory from the 2001 Band Geeks episode of the Nickelodeon series than Travis Scott.

The rapper joined Maroon 5 on stage to perform his Drake collaboration Sicko Mode, and the reaction wasn’t kind.

Meh: Travis Scott joined Maroon 5 on stage during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show to perform Sicko Mode and the reaction wasn’t kind

For a start, CBS muted Travis’s performance several times due to the profanities in the lyrics.

Some who watched the live telecast said it was inappropriate for an event that’s watched by families with many comparing it to Janet Jackson’s nipple exposure during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2004 with Justin Timberlake.

Folks were equally unimpressed with Travis and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine dancing together before the rapper jumped off stage for a spot of crowd surfing.

There was even more disappointment that Kylie Jenner’s baby daddy ended his appearance without proposing to the reality star as had been widely rumored.

Some wondered why Super Bowl would have an artist that needed muting especially after the controversy over Janet Jackson's nipple exposure at the 2004 halftime show

Fans made their feelings known via Twitter and they didn’t hold back.

‘Worst halftime show ever,’ tweeted @wickedkhaleesi. ‘Adam is off key and travis Scott got bleeped out of his entire performance. This feels like a bad American idol audition’ (sic).

@elm671 wrote: ‘So censoring half of Travis Scott’s halftime performance is okay. But Janet Jackson is still not welcome’ followed by an angry emoji.

Fans also noted that Travis performed without auto tune and that hadn’t helped.

‘#SuperbowlLIII halftime show can’t get worse… #TravisScott hold my beer and turn off my auto tune,’ tweeted @vtyoungin.

As expected, Travis’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner was with him in Atlanta where she and their daughter Stormi, one, watched the halftime show from backstage.

There had been rumors the rapper would use the big occasion to propose to the 21-year-old reality star, but it didn’t happen.

As a result, ‘America has been robbed’ tweeted @jasminesachar.
