Trent Cotchin drops daughter on head during dance fail

  • AFL footy star Trent Cotchin’s dance with young daughter takes a painful turn
  • Richmond Tigers captain is captured on video dancing with little Harper
  • The Brownlow medallist then throws her into the air twice, failing to catch her
  • She tumbles to the ground and lands heavily before bursting into tears

Richmond captain Trent Cotchin may have shown sure hands throughout his AFL career but his handling has abandoned him at a crucial moment – dropping his daughter during a dance routine gone spectacularly wrong.

Video captures the moment when the Tigers skipper was dancing with his daughter Harper, spinning her around before throwing her in the air.

The first throw was a success, but buoyed by inflated confidence, Cotchin then attempts an elaborate overhead move – which ends in tears.

Cotchin’s wife Brooke posted the video of the disastrous dance routine on Instagram using the hashtag #dadfail.

The Brownlow medallist narrowly avoids dropping his young daughter on her head in a last-ditch attempt to grab her, tilting her on her side before she lands heavily on the carpet.

The little girl then bursts into tears before her dad asks ‘you all right?’.

All of this takes place in front of baby Mackenzie, who is almost hit by her sister as she torpedoes towards the ground.

Cotchin then brings the dance to a quick halt scooping Harper up and carrying her away.

Mrs Cotchin accompanied the video with a caption saying she had popped out to a dress fitting before coming home to see the footage.

Richmond fans will be hoping Cotchin’s fumble isn’t a sign of things to come in next weekend’s preliminary final as the club closes in on its first premiership in 37 years.
