Shattered family and friends have remembered a beloved young man who tragically took his own life while attending a funeral.

Spike Porter, 25, had been at a service at the Pimpama Island Cemetery in the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Mr Porter was in the back of a car in the procession when the incident unfolded, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Paramedics and witnesses desperately tried to save Mr Porter but he died from critical head injuries.

Heartbroken loved ones have since paid tribute to the young man. 

One friend said he would cherish the time they had spent together.

‘I just wish you f**king called me,’ they wrote.

Another mate said Mr Porter had a heart ‘too big’ for this world.

‘I wish you were here now, so you could see how much love and respect everyone has for you,’ they said.

‘I wish you could of seen yourself and loved yourself in the same way that we all see and love you.’

Mr Porter’s twin brother Eddie shared a photo of the pair laughing together.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up to help support his family as they try to deal with their loss.
