Tributes to ‘beautiful and amazing’ barmaid, 25, who was found dead near fire station after going out with friends as police arrest man, 44, for murder

Tributes have flooded in today after the body of a 25-year-old woman was found near a fire station.
Sara Hopkins was found unresponsive by police in Worcestershire on Saturday morning and was later declared dead.
Police in Upton on Severn have since arrested a 44-year-old man on suspicion of murder and friends of the former barmaid have today described her as ‘beautiful and amazing’.
The night before her death she had posted on social media that she was heading out with friends after dealing with a particularly bad week.

Taking to Facebook, one friend Holly Barrett said: ‘Sara, I’ll never forget you and the beautiful friendship that we had. I’ll love you forever and I’ll always remember the many amazing years that we spent together. Rest easy, my girl.’
This is while another Facebook user added: ‘This is just so awful, my sincere condolences go out to you and of course her family and all who knew her. Devastating tragic news.’
Others described her as an ‘amazing lady’, Sharron Perrett added: ‘Still can’t believe it, we drove past today and it just sent shivers down my spine. Amazing lady, always will be.’
Sara had worked at the Plough Inn pub and her Facebook page stated she was currently working at local door supplier Permadoor.

A police cordon was put in place yesterday and extra officers have been deployed in the area.
Detective Inspector Jim Bayliss said: ‘Our inquiries are very much in their early stages and at this stage the woman’s death is being treated as suspicious.
‘A man has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
‘Extra officers will be in the area, both to carry out inquiries and to offer reassurance.’
Police said Sara’s next of kin have been informed.

Upton on Severn has a total population of 2,881, according to a 2011 consensus, making it Worcestershire’s smallest town.
As it is on the west bank of the River Severn, the town is known for severe flooding which has made it entirely inaccessible in past years.
