TRIC Awards EXC: Katie Piper reveals she’s feeling ‘positive’ after surgery in Pakistan

TRIC Awards EXCLUSIVE: Katie Piper looks sensational in semi-sheer jumpsuit as she says she’s ‘feeling positive’ after surgery in Pakistan

She underwent a facial reconstruction operation in Pakistan a few weeks ago, after being subjected to an acid attack in 2008.

And Katie Piper appeared in great spirits as she revealed she’s feeling ‘positive’ after her surgery in an exclusive interview with MailOnline the TRIC Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England, on Tuesday afternoon.

Looking every inch the yummy mummy, the Strictly star, 35, slipped into a black structured jumpsuit, complemented with a sizzling sheer bodice.

The charity campaigner, who was covered in bruises after the surgery, shared details on her current state as she told MailOnline: ‘I’m alright after surgery. I’ve still got my dressing on and I’m not in much pain as I was before.

‘I’m remaining positive after surgery… some countries don’t have the NHS so it is a positive thing. Some people don’t survive their attacks so being able to access medical care is a privilege.’

Katie, who shares Belle, four, and Penelope, 15 months, with husband Richard Sutton, commanded attention at the event as she boosted her frame in a pair of suede platform heels.

With her tresses styled into loose waves, the philanthropist ensured focus remained on her ensemble as she opted for minimal accessories and enhanced her beauty with heavy strokes of make-up.

During her surgery, a spokesperson for the star told MailOnline: ‘Katie is feeling much better after travelling home from Pakistan last week. The operation went really well but she has been in a lot of pain.

‘Katie is very much still in recovery mode and taking it easy. She is bandaged on one side of her neck and has bad bruising but after nearly 300 operations is keeping her spirits up.

‘She is so excited to have her new book out for Mother’s Day in a few weeks’ time.’

Katie’s surgeon was Dr Mohammad Jawad, who was also in charge of the star’s reconstruction surgery after she was attacked with sulphuric acid in 2008.

The acid, some of which Piper had swallowed, blinded her in her left eye, and caused partial thickness and full thickness burns.

Dr Jawad and his team of surgeons completely removed the skin of Katie’s face, and replaced it with a skin substitute, Matriderm, to build the foundations for a skin graft. This pioneering procedure is the first of its kind to be done in a single operation.
