Triple M Robin Bailey partner liver cancer

Triple M Brisbane radio host Robin Bailey has revealed that her partner Sean Pickwell is suffering from liver cancer.

Bailey spoke of his diagnosis on-air on Thursday, just days before she is set to commemorate the anniversary of her husband Tony Smart’s death.

Smart committed suicide in September 2014 after a long battle with depression.

Bailey will fly to Sydney on Friday, where Pickwell will undergo surgery to remove 40 per cent of his liver.

Trying times: Triple M radio host Robin Bailey reveals her partner Sean Pickwell is battling liver cancer… just days before the anniversary of husband Tony Smart’s tragic suicide

Speaking to The Courier Mail, she said that she would remain by his side until the operation was over, before flying back to Brisbane to commemorate the anniversary of Tony’s death with sons Fin, 17, Lewin, 15, and Piper, 12.

‘I sat them down and I said “guys, you are my number one priority but Sean needs me”,’ she said.

‘They really like Sean and they see how happy he makes me, and my eldest said ‘mum, he’s got cancer, you’ve got to go”.’

On Thursday, Robin told Triple M co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Greg Martin she was trying to find the ‘bright side’ of the situation.

‘Far be it from me to say positive thinking cures cancer but I mean that you’ve got to find the bright side and, in this situation, it (Sean’s cancer) was caught early, we’re in a loving relationship and I’ve seen that my children are incredibly compassionate,’ she said.

She revealed on air that the operation would cost Pickwell $10,000 despite having private health insurance, according to The Courier Mail.

Bailey tragically lost her husband Tony Smart in 2014 to suicide.

Heartbreaking: In March this year, she admitted that she was 'reduced to tears' when a psychic made contact with her late husband during a 90 minute phone reading

Again, speaking to the Courier Mail, Bailey said that the encounter with psychic Deb Webber was ‘confronting’.

‘There was some personal stuff that came up that made me cry. It was confronting at times and there were some emotional issues raised,’ she explained.

In 2014, Bailey said if her husband knew the impact his death would have on his family, he may have acted differently.

‘I have to believe that if my husband Tony could have seen how much it has devastated his family he wouldn’t have done it,’ she said.

‘That’s another way to family members to go, to tell someone “how much I would shrivel up if you did this”.’
