Triple M’s Lawrence Mooney calls Matthew McConaughey ‘up himself’ and accuses the actor of having HAIR PLUGS in a blistering on-air rant

Lawrence Mooney has unleashed on Matthew McConaughey, after the actor hosted a bizarre press junket in Sydney earlier this week.

Lawrence, 54, had attended the Hollywood star’s event in partnership with Wild Turkey at Bennelong Gardens on Wednesday, but he wasn’t impressed to say the least.

Speaking on Triple M’s Moonman in the Morning on Thursday, the comedian said: ‘[It was the] most disappointing junket I’ve ever been on. Absolutely absurd!’

Lawrence claimed the Dallas Buyers Club star had shown up late and, to make matters worse, there weren’t even enough seats for the guests.

He also accused Matthew of ‘preaching’ to the audience when he spoke about disconnecting from the digital world and getting in touch with nature.

‘It’s this American thing, they think they’re the only ones that have experienced human emotions for the first time,’ he said.

Lawrence also took a swipe at Matthew’s physical appearance.

‘I’ll tell you another thing, Matthew was balding pretty seriously early on in his career. He has got plugs in his head,’ he claimed.

Matthew, who is the creative director for whiskey brand Wild Turkey, is in Australia to launch With Thanks, an initiative designed to recognise and support local companies protecting the natural environment.

He has joined forces with travel start-up Unyoked to design and help build an off-the-grid cabin to encourage more Australians to reconnect with the wild.

A portion of the proceeds made by the cabin, as well as $1 from every bottle of Wild Turkey whiskey, will go to Unyoked’s charity partner, the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.

Matthew said ‘it was a natural fit’ for him to return to Australia, as he had previously spent a year living Down Under in the 1980s.
