A notorious triple murderer has been bashed in the head by an inmate while behind bars.
Steven Peet is serving 30 years in jail for murdering his partner Adeline Yvette Wilson-Rigney and her two young children – Amber, 6, and Korey, 5 – at an Adelaide home two years ago.
The murderer was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital and treated for head injuries after the attack by an inmate at a high security area of Yatala Prison, South Australia, Wednesday afternoon, 9News reported.

The fellow prisoner was charged with assault and faced court on Thursday as internal investigations are underway.
The child killer, who was sentenced early April, has been brutally ‘beaten’ and ‘threatened’ by inmates previously when he was in custody during the trial.
During sentencing, Justice Malcolm Blue told Peet his time was ‘going to be extremely uncomfortable’ whether he is jailed in ‘isolation or with other prisoners’.
The 32-year-old pleaded guilty to the triple murder which Justice Blue described as a ‘senseless and incomprehensible act’ when he was handed a mandatory life sentence.
The bodies of Ms Wilson-Rigney and the children were all found with cable ties around their necks and hidden under clothes and bedding and, in the case of the boy, under a child’s play tent.
The young girl had adhesive tape wrapped around her head and a sock had been stuffed in her mouth.

Justice Malcolm Blue said he would have sentenced the convicted killer to 33 years non-parole had it not been for Peet’s (pictured) eventual guilty pleas to all three murders
Her arms had been tied behind her back.
The young boy had parts of his body wrapped in tape and his hands and feet were secured behind his back in a hog-tied fashion.
Justice Blue said he would have sentenced the convicted killer to 33 years non-parole had it not been for Peet’s eventual guilty pleas to all three murders.
After the sentence was handed down, Steven Egbert, the children’s grandfather, yelled ‘we’ll be here when you get out you weak little f****’ before being removed from the court by security.
Another yelled out ‘animal’ as Peet was led away.
Peet and Ms Wilson-Rigney had been dating since February 2016, the Supreme Court heard.
After the attack, Peet confessed the crime to a relative.
‘I killed my lady and her two kids,’ he later told police on the phone, according to ABC.
