A horrific crash involving at large truck has left one driver in a ‘serious condition’ while another escaped with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was thrown from the truck cabin after a semi-trailer sideswiped the vehicle, sustaining head injuries.

The truck burst into flames during the smash, which occurred just before 8am on Friday morning near Bacchus Marsh.

Witnesses have told the Herald Sun that clouds smoke billowing into the air from the crash site near Hacketts Way.

Authorities are rushing to the life-threatening scene on the Western Freeway at Darley, according to 3AW.

An ambulance helicopter is attending the scene and all Melbourne-bound traffic is being detoured through Bacchus Marsh.
