Truck smashes into cars on Sydney’s M4 in Prospect, with 18 taken to hospital

Eighteen people are rushed to hospital after a horror crash involving a truck and eight cars – with traffic banked up for 11 kilometres in peak hour

At least 18 people have been rushed to hospital after they were involved in a horror crash on Sydney’s M4 – sparking a major traffic jam.

Traffic has been banked up for 11 kilometres after a truck collided with eight cars on the motorway in Prospect, in the city’s west at about 4.40pm on Friday.

Emergency services had to free one man from his van after he became trapped in his vehicle.

The man was taken to Liverpool Hospital and is believed to be seriously injured. 

It’s understood most of the motorists involved did not suffer serious injuries however, two were taken to Westmead Hospital.
