Trump blasts ‘ridiculous’ impeachment vote and tells Democrats to get back to work

President Trump on Wednesday slammed the House’s failed impeachment vote as a ‘ridiculous project’ and ordered Democrats to get back to work ahead of his campaign rally here, where he has signaled he will go after Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her squad.

It was ‘the most ridiculous project,’ Trump told reporters on the tarmac of the impeachment vote, which failed 332 to 95 with all Republicans voting for it and more Democrats in favor of killing the impeachment resolution than were for it.

‘We just received an overwhelming vote against impeachment and that is the end of it. Let the Democrats now get back to work,’ he said.

He also took to Twitter to slam the vote.

‘The United States House of Representatives has just overwhelmingly voted to kill the Resolution on Impeachment, 332-95-1. This is perhaps the most ridiculous and time consuming project I have ever had to work on,’ he wrote.

‘Impeachment of your President, who has led the Greatest Economic BOOM in the history of our Country, the best job numbers, biggest tax reduction, rebuilt military and much more, is now OVER. This should never be allowed to happen to another President of the United States again!,’ he added.

Earlier Wednesday, the president warned members of the ‘squad’ he’ll be talking about them at his upcoming rally.

‘Big Rally tonight in Greenville, North Carolina. Lots of great things to tell you about, including the fact that our Economy is the best it has ever been. Best Employment & Stock Market Numbers EVER. I’ll talk also about people who love, and hate, our Country (mostly love)! 7:PM,’ the president wrote on Twitter.

It’s the first time Trump will address supporters since he suggested the Democratic lawmakers go ‘back where they came from.’

His rally was originally scheduled for the night special counsel Robert Mueller was going to testify before Congress.

Mueller’s testimony, however, got pushed back a week.

But the rally will go on.

And Trump’s feud with Democrats and the charges of racism against him will give him plenty of meat to feed his supporters particularly after the House voted 240-187 to condemn his words as ‘racist.’

The two votes are sure to give the president plenty of ire to rally supporters at the Smith-Williams Arena at East Carolina University, which has a capacity of 8,000 people.

A local CBS station showed supporters lined up waiting to get in on Wednesday morning, wearing their red Make America Great Again hats and waving ‘Trump Keep America Great 2020’ signs.

Mueller may not be testifying but he’s also a favorite punching bag of the president’s, who claims he is the victim of a witch hunt, and could easily come up in Wednesday’s remarks.

It’s unclear if the Trump campaign will schedule a rally for July 24, which is the new date for Mueller’s testimony.

Wednesday’s rally marks his first campaign event since he formally kicked off his 2020 re-election bid in Florida last month.

Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara is from North Carolina and helped deliver the state to him in the last presidential election.

The president won North Carolina by four points over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The state is set to be competitive in the upcoming presidential election.

Wednesday’s rally marks the third he’s held in North Carolina since he took office.

Vice President Mike Pence will also be on stage with Trump Wednesday night.

Pence is in the state to speak with soldiers at Fort Bragg and attend a fundraiser in Fayetteville earlier in the day.
