Donald Trump claims that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the ‘new face of the Democratic party’, along with fellow progressive Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilhan Omar, for supposedly trying to turn the party against Israel.
The president slammed House Democrats on Sunday for wanting to take action against Israel after the nation banned Tlaib and Omar from entering the country for an official visit on Thursday, saying the four, known as ‘the Squad’ are taking over the party.
‘House Democrats want to take action against Israel because it is fighting back against two (maybe four) people that have said unthinkably bad things about it & the Israeli people,’ he tweeted Sunday evening.
‘Dems have such disdain for Israel! What happened? AOC Plus 4 is the new face of the Democrat Party!’ he added. He likely meant ‘Plus 3’ in reference to the ‘Squad’ of four.

The Squad of four are known for being in allies in their politics and decrying the Trump administration.
Tlaib and Omar have been in the forefront of politics this week after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government banned them from entering the country due to their outspoken support of Palestine and the BDS movement.
Israel’s ban against allowing Tlaib, of Michigan, and Ilhan, of Minnesota, into the country sparked controversy as both Muslim and have both supported boycotts of Israel.
On Friday Trump insinuated that AOC was jealous of the media attention Tlaib and Ilhan were receiving in light of Israel’s ban.
‘Like it or not, Like it or not, Tlaib and Omar are fast becoming the face of the Democrat Party. Cortez (AOC) is fuming, not happy about this!’
But AOC brushed off his tweet with a laughing emoji.

On Thursday AOC responded to the news of their ban saying: ‘MoC are frequently asked to visit Israel to “see things for ourselves.” But Netanyahu choosing to ban the only 2 Muslim women in Congress from entering tells the US that only *some* Americans are welcome to Israel, not all. Trump is exporting his bigotry &making matters worse.’
She showed additional support for her colleagues by retweeting other politician’s outrage at the decision.
Trump’s claim came as part of series of tweets where he began: ‘Israel was very respectful & nice to Rep. Rashida Tlaib, allowing her permission to visit her “grandmother.” As soon as she was granted permission, she grandstanded & loudly proclaimed she would not visit Israel. Could this possibly have been a setup? Israel acted appropriately!
‘Rep. Tlaib wrote a letter to Israeli officials desperately wanting to visit her grandmother. Permission was quickly granted, whereupon Tlaib obnoxiously turned the approval down, a complete setup. The only real winner here is Tlaib’s grandmother. She doesn’t have to see her now!’

Tlaib was born in the United States but traces her roots to the Palestinian village of Beit Ur Al-Fauqa in the West Bank. Her grandmother and extended family live in that village.
‘It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!,’ Netanyahu originally tweeted Thursday morning.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who had visited Israel last week and spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about letting Tlaib in the country, criticized Israel for placing restrictions on her visit.
Omar accused Netanyahu of implementing Trump’s ‘Muslim ban’ against two members of Congress, a reference to the administration’s policy to ban refugees from seven Muslim countries, including her birthplace of Somalia.
