Trump claims CNN staff are in revolt and lashes out at The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin

Donald Trump has lashed out at his former White House staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin, calling her a ‘loser’ and a ‘backbencher’ in a post on his Truth Social network.

Griffin, Trump’s former White House director of strategic communications, is now a co-host of ABC’s The View and a political commentator for CNN, and has heaped scorn on her former boss in recent appearances on both outlets.

Last week, Griffin spoke out defending CNN’s controversial town hall special with Trump — but only because it ‘lost votes’ for Trump and exposed him as ‘radioactive for independents and moderates’ in her estimation.

‘America got to see who he is last night: a ranting, raving lunatic, who sided with Vladimir Putin,’ Griffin said of her former boss, following the CNN town hall interview hosted by Kaitlan Collins.

Trump fired back, sharing a video of Griffin gushingly praising him while she worked in the White House, claiming without evidence that execs at CNN and The View were under pressure from ‘radical left’ staffers to fire Griffin.

‘Backbencher in the Trump Administration, Alyssa Farah, like so many other sleazebags, had only glowing reviews of the Trump Administration until long after she left. A loser then, and a loser now!,’ wrote Trump in his Truth Social post.

In a follow-up post on Saturday night, Trump further lashed out at Griffin, praised his CNN town hall as ‘absolutely lovely’ and offered to appear on the network for a sequel.

‘Word is that they are revolting at the ‘View’ and CNN, and want Farrah OUT! Much more to come,’ he wrote.

‘She tried to delete out her words, but we got them ALL. I don’t see how she lasts because this ‘stuff’ shows what a phony she is,’ added Trump, apparently referring to the video he earlier shared of Griffin praising him.

‘They won’t be able to take the Radical Left Heat, just as CNN wants to fire the ‘boss’ because of the absolutely lovely Town Hall they just put on,’ added Trump, referring to discontent in the ranks of the news network over new boss Chris Licht’s handling of the town hall.

‘One of their biggest ratings nights in years, & they are begging for mercy. CNN, let’s do another one?’ Trump concluded.

At CNN, the internal controversy over the May 10 town hall has spilled over into public, with some of the network’s top personalities loudly criticizing the decision to interview Trump in front of an audience of his cheering fans.

In an internal call with CNN staff members last week, Licht noted that people in the town hall audience represented a large swath of America.

‘The mistake the media made in the past is ignoring that those people exist,’ he said. ‘Just like you cannot ignore that President Trump exists.’

Earlier this week, veteran correspondent Christiane Amanpour became the most prominent CNN journalist to publicly criticize her network over the town hall.

Amanpour told a group of graduating students at Columbia University’s graduate school of journalism on Wednesday that she would have ‘dropped the mic at ‘nasty person,” a reference to when Trump lobbed that insult at moderator Kaitlan Collins.

She criticized CNN for hosting Trump at a live event in New Hampshire, where the 2024 presidential candidate repeated lies about the last election before a mostly adoring audience.

CNN Chairman Licht has defended the town hall as newsworthy and important, and Amanpour said she had a ‘robust discussion’ with him about it.

Everyone knows Trump tries to seize the stage and dominate at such events, said Amanpour, the chief international correspondent who has worked at CNN for 40 years.

‘No matter how much flak the moderator tries to aim at the incoming, it doesn’t work,’ she said.

Perhaps today’s journalism leaders should learn from those in the 1950s, who refused to give Sen. Joseph McCarthy attention ‘unless his foul lies, his witch hunts and his rants’ reached the basic level for evidence allowed in a courtroom, she said.
