Trump plays Rolling Stones despite being asked to stop

  • Rolling Stones asked Trump repeatedly to cease playing their music at events
  • The Stones  first released a statement for Trump’s campaign to cease using their songs in May of 2016
  • Trump has even been made aware of the band’s requests to stop playing their hits in the past and said ‘I have no problem with that, I like Mick Jagger’
  • Song most repeatedly played at the offending events is ‘You can’t always get what you want’

President Donald Trump can always get what he wants, as he continues to play the Rolling Stones at various events, despite the band repeatedly telling him to cease use of their music.

Trump used the band’s songs several times in the past week. After an hour and a half long speech in Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday Trump played ‘You can’t always get what you want’ by the Stones.

He used the legendary British bands song ‘Start Me Up’ at a rally Thursday night in West Virginia as well. The Stones released a statement via their publicist immediately following the rally.

‘The Rolling Stones have never given permission to the Trump campaign to use their songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately,’ the Stones’ publicist said in a statement to CNN.

It is not the first time they’ve asked him to stop. It’s also not the first time he ignored their request.

In January the President and first lady Melania Trump walked out to ‘Heart of Stone’ at the inaugural concert despite being told to cease usage in May of 2016.

At that time an identical statement was released to the BBC to a just campaigning Trump: ‘The Rolling Stones have never given permission to the Trump campaign to use their songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately.’

When he was asked about using the Rolling Stones music in May 2016, Trump responded: ‘I have no problem with that. I like Mick Jagger.’

Yet with Trump acknowledging their snub he again used the the Stones’ song ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ after his acceptance speech at the Republic National Convention and yet again when he won the election on November 9, 2016.

The band’s front man Mick Jagger took a jab at Trump being elected in the first place: ‘Everyone outside the US is kind of mystified,’ before adding ‘that’s the polite way to say it.’
