President Donald Trump said Thursday that House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff should be ‘forced’ to resign from office for ‘lying’ about his campaign contacts with Russians.

The president ramped up his attack on his rival, whom he has mocked on Twitter before, following the completion of the Mueller report.

Trump accused Schiff, who regularly went after Trump throughout the Russia probe,  of ‘knowingly and unlawfully’ lying. The president’s attack, launched on Twitter, came hours after he accused the California congressman of committing a ‘crime.’

‘Congressman Adam Schiff, who spent two years knowingly and unlawfully lying and leaking, should be forced to resign from Congress!’ Trump wrote Thursday morning as he fired off a barrage of tweets.

Schiff, however, doubled down on his litany of earlier comments. He told CNN Thursday morning: ‘There is ample evidence of collusion in plain sight.’

Trump also went after Schiff in a 45-minute call in interview on Fox News host Sean Hannity’s show Wednesday night.

‘He should be forced out of office,’ Trump told the host. ‘He is a disgrace to our country.’

‘In one way you could say it’s a crime what he did, because … he was making horrible statements that he knew were false.’

Trump continued: ‘He would go on, night after night, talking about collusion — the collusion delusion,’ Trump said.

Schiff was among the Trump camp’s first targets following the completion of the Mueller report and the attorney general’s four-page summary stating the report did not uncover evidence of Trump officials coordinating or conspiring with the Russian government to interfere in the elections.

On Sunday, the Trump campaign wrote TV bookers, singling out Schiff as among those who should be shunned on air.

The campaign flagged a Schiff comment that there was evidence of collusion or conspiracy ‘in plain sight.’ It was among many times the California lawmakers highlighted Trump campaign connections with Russians.

Schiff has been among Trump’s toughest critics in Congress. After gaining the gavel of his committee, and as the Mueller probe appeared to wind down, Schiff launched his own probe. It deals not just with Russia, but with other Trump related contacts with overseas entities – crossing the ‘red line’ of Trump business interests that Trump had warned Mueller not to tread.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., mocked the lawmaekrs as ‘Adam #fullofSchiff’ on Sunday.

Schiff tweeted Sunday after the release Attorney General William Barr’s letter: ‘Mueller did not find sufficient evidence to establish conspiracy, notwithstanding Russian offers to help Trump’s campaign, their acceptance, and a litany of concealed interactions with Russia. I trust Mueller’s prosecutorial judgement, but the country must see the evidence.’

Trump once referred to Schiff online as ‘little Adam Schitt (D-CA).’

In addition to his focus on Russia, Schiff recently called for investigating former Orchids of Asia Day Spa owner Li Yang and any illegal influence operation trying to sell access to Trump.
