President Donald Trump has slammed his beloved Fox News network for asking ‘softball questions’ during an interview with Democratic presidential race dropout Eric Swalwell.

Trump fired off a tweet on Tuesday night while Fox anchor Martha Maccallum was midway through interviewing Swalwell about Russia and the Mueller investigation.

‘Just watched Rep. Eric Swalwell be asked endless softball questions by @marthamaccallum on @FoxNews about the phony Witch Hunt,’ Trump tweeted.

‘He was just forced out of the Democrat Presidential Primary because he polled at ZERO. Fox sure ain’t what it used to be. Too bad!’

Trump then followed up with a second tweet, saying: ‘Oh well, we still have the great @seanhannity who I hear has a really strong show tonight. 9:00 P.M.’

Swalwell became the first Democrat to drop out of the 2020 race earlier this month after failing to make headway among the dozens of candidates.

His interview on Fox News was mostly about the judiciary panel’s upcoming hearing with former Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump has repeatedly slammed former Mueller’s investigation as a ‘witch hunt’.

Mueller is set to testify before the house committee on Wednesday.

Lawmakers will question him for roughly five hours about the book-length report he released in April into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump 2016 campaign.

The president, who most often gets positive press coverage from Fox News, has taken several swipes at the network of late.

‘@FoxNews is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!’ Trump tweeted earlier this month.

In another tweet this month, he said: ‘Watching @FoxNews weekend anchors is worse than watching low ratings Fake News @CNN.’

Back in January, Trump tweeted: ‘Never thought I’d say this but I think @johnrobertsFox and @GillianHTurner @FoxNews have even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN & NBC! Look to final results! Don’t know how my poll numbers are so good, especially up 19% with Hispanics?’
