Tuggerah murder-suicide: Mother and son found dead inside home

The bodies of a mother and her nine-year-old son have been found inside a home after an apparent murder-suicide.

Emergency services were called to a weatherboard home on Kilpa Road in Wyongah on the New  Central Coast, just before 2pm where they made the grim discovery.

NSW Police have confirmed the bodies were of a woman, 47, and boy, 9, were found inside the home. 

The woman is reported to be a well known identity in the local sporting community.

‘Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths but no other parties are being sought in relation to this incident.

Tuggerah Lakes police command acting inspector Matt Kelly said the tragic deaths were the result of a murder suicide, the Express Advocate reported. 

A crime scene was established at the tragic scene as detectives investigated the circumstances around the deaths.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

It’s understood a couple, bought the house in 2001 a number of years before the arrival of their son, The Daily Telegraph reported.

A shocked neighbour told the publication that the family kept to themselves.

‘I’ve heard them have a few fights occasionally but nothing serious, I didn’t think,’ he  said. 

‘You never expect something like this on a quiet street like this, but when I saw the tape I knew something bad had happened.’
