Tuxford girl, six, accidentally hanged herself while playing with two skipping ropes

Daisy Dymyd, six, accidentally hanged herself while playing with two skipping ropes

A six-year-old girl accidentally hanged herself while playing with two skipping ropes in her room, an inquest heard.

Daisy Dymyd, from Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, was found by her mother Charlotte after she realised ‘it was quiet upstairs’ and went to check on her.

The 33 year old, who had been doing housework for around 30 minutes, freed Daisy and attempted CPR while talking to a 999 phone operator for instructions.

Daisy was airlifted to Sheffield Children’s Hospital after paramedics arrived but was pronounced dead a short time later on February 18, reports Lincolnshire Live.

Assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, Dr Elizabeth Didcock, said the girl had not been left alone for ‘a significant period of time’.

Dr Robert Bone, an expert in knots, said Daisy would have been capable of typing the skipping ropes herself as they were ‘simple knots’.

But detective chief inspector Peter Quinn, who investigated Daisy’s death, said: ‘What game she was perhaps playing, he struggled to understand.’

The inquest also heard that skipping ropes were her favourite toy.

Her father Luke, a roofer, said she liked to ‘put bows on her teddy bears’.

Dr Didcock said: ‘My findings are that there is absolutely no suspicion of any third party involvement. I wholeheartedly rule that out.

‘There was no concern that she was anything other than a happy playful girl who enjoyed playing with toys.

‘She liked to play horses and liked to play with animals.’

Dr Didcock ruled that Daisy’s death was an accident.
