TV newsreader quits after foul-mouthed rant while hosting $270-a-head fundraiser for the disabled

A television host has announced his resignation one week after he unleashed a foul-mouthed rant at a fundraiser for the disabled.

Sky News and Fox Sports presenter Greg Thomson quit from his roles, which he declared online, after his inappropriate rant at the $270-a-head Inala fundraising event on July 13.

‘I wanted to let you know I’m resigning from Sky News Australia and Fox Sports News. A big thank you to the team at ANC,’ Thomson wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

The former host apologised for the foul-mouthed tirade, during which he told the shocked audience to ‘shut the hell up’.

‘I sincerely apologise to Inala, the organisers, sponsors and those attending last week’s fundraiser. I deeply regret taking some of the shine off Inala’s great work,’ Thomson explained.

The 30-year-old unleashed the shocking rant at the charity dinner held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney in front of about 400 guests.

‘If you get offended by swear words, well I don’t give a s***, you’re all f***ed off your heads,’ the former presenter said on stage.

‘Can everyone shut up? Shut up. Seriously, no, shut your mouth.

‘You’re appalling, your behaviour has been disgraceful, pull your finger out, put your manners back in and shut the hell up.’

Stunned guests could be heard gasping in the crowd before booing the disgraced presenter.

Thomson asked the agitated crowd ‘who wants to scull with Greggo?’

A crowd member responded: ‘No one’.

The journalist, who began his career in 2007, then had his microphone taken off him by the talkback radio station 2GB after he slammed audience members for not being ‘very ladylike’

Thomson was taken off air and suspended by Sky News following the incident.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Thomson for comment.
