Twist in Rod Stewart’s Australian tour health woes after he cancelled his Geelong show on Saturday

Sir Rod Stewart shocked his Australian fans on Saturday when he cancelled his concert in Geelong due to ill health just hours before he was due to take the stage.

Many wondered whether the rest of his Australian tour would also be affected but it has now been confirmed his concert in Adelaide on Tuesday is still going ahead.

A spokesperson for the 78-year-old rock legend revealed on Monday his performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena is ‘definitely still on’.

The hitmaker will take the stage at the Adelaide stadium on Tuesday evening to belt out both old and new hits to a roaring crowd of 11,000 fans.

He is then scheduled to perform in Sydney on Wednesday, March 29 and in Hunter Valley on Saturday, April 1.

Stewart is currently touring the country with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens and the trio first performed together in Perth on March 11.

It comes after Rod revealed why he cancelled his show in Geelong on Saturday just hours before he was due to perform.

The London native took to his Instagram to apologise for the last minute cancellation, which left fans furious.

‘Hello my friends. I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green,’ he wrote.

‘Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing. I’m only human and sometimes get sick just like you do.’

He continued: ‘My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!’

The Instagram post on Saturday comes after Rod’s team took to his Instagram to post a statement to his fans.

The statement said: ‘Live Nation and Roundhouse Entertainment regret to announce that tonight’s performance by Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens at Mt. Duneed Estate, Geelong will not go ahead due to illness.

‘We apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience for ticket holders. A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week.’
