Two are arrested in Florida for running sham dental office out of a bus

A Florida duo posing as dentists and running a sham dental office out of a renovated bus have been arrested.

Daniela Sulbaran, 37, and Victor Bernal, 44, duped West Miami-Dade locals and illegally treated children at their illicit dental operation.

They were busted on November 15 by undercover cops posing as patients and were arrested and charged with practicing health care without a license.

Neither were licensed to work as dentists in the state of Florida.

Bernal additionally was charged with possession of prescription drugs with intent to sell or deliver.

It’s not clear how long the duo ran their sham dental office. They ran their operations out of a bus parked in a storage space parking lot. Their bus was painted blue and red with cartoon children and the phrase ‘The power of a healthy smile’.

Their operation was foiled when undercover cops posed as new patients and went into the dental office located in a Davco Storage & Propane parking lot for a dental cleaning and a tooth extraction on November 15, according to the Miami Herald.

Bernal met the officers outside of the gated parking lot and drove them to the bus. Once there he directed the officers to sit in a dental chair.

Sulbaran put on a dental bib, a face guard, and surgical latex gloves. She then diagnosed and offered to treat the cops, who then arrested the two con artists.

‘Once you’re there, and you’re in that chair, and you don’t know what hands you’ve landed, it could cost you your life,’ Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said to WSVN.

‘Within those walls, those red walls or the red wrapping of that bus, was a fully operational dentistry,’ he added.

The officers also investigated two bags that Bernal removed from his car after bringing them to the bus and inside found prescription drugs lidocaine, medivacaine, ibuprofen 600 and dental products.

The ran their operation out of the red painted and cartoon-covered bus standing in a parking lot in storage lot of cars, trucks and boats.

They were both bonded out on Wednesday after Bernal posted $10,000 bond and Sulbaran posted $5,000 bond.

Zableta hopes their case may be a warning for people to do their research in seeking medical care.

‘Make sure they have insurance, look for permits of the county, all of these little things that you need to do,’ Zabaleta said.
