Two men have been arrested over the murder of a wealthy Russian woman found dead from head injuries in her £900,000 flat.
Serafima Meshaka, 58, was found dead at her apartment in Ealing, west London on September 18 after police were alerted over concerns for her welfare.
Last night, officers from the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrests of a 41-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 38-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
Ms Meshaka’s flat is part of a well-kept complex of buildings occupied mainly by elderly residents and professionals which can only be accessed with electronic key fobs.
She is understood to be Russian and the director of a company called Guide and Guardian UK.
Her husband Michel, who lives in a separate flat in St Johns Wood, earlier said the incident was very ‘serious’ and being dealt with ‘at the top, top level’.
He said: ‘It has gone beyond the highest level imaginable. It’s because my wife was very well known and she was known within high circles.’
A post mortem revealed Miss Meshaka may have been attacked – and police described the incident as an ‘attack’ in the days after her body was found.
An elderly neighbour living on the floor below Miss Meshaka spoke at the time of how she had met Ms Meshaka at a Christmas party ‘many years ago’.
She said: ‘We all speak to each other and invite each other to Christmas parties and birthday parties. I met her at a Christmas party many years ago.’

The woman, who did not wish to be named, added that Miss Meshaka had lived in the building for several years and recently had renovations carried out for three months.
Bushra Imran, 43, who lives in a flat on the floor below Miss Meshaka, also said: ‘I was very scared this is happening because we [the residents] are the only ones with keys to the building. It’s very quiet here.’
Both arrested men remain in custody and anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4266 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating the case.
