Two more men are charged with murder of 17-year-old boy found dead at Barry Docks near Gavin and Stacey set – as police probe three other suspects

Two more men have been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old boy who was found dead at docklands less than a mile from the Gavin and Stacey set.   

The body of Harry Baker, who was from Cardiff, was discovered at Barry Docks in South Wales on Wednesday morning.

This morning, South Wales Police said two men, Peter McCarthy, 36, and Ryan Palmer, 33, both from Barry, had been charged with murder and would appear in court in Cardiff on the same day.

Later in the evening Nathan Delafonteine, 32, of no fixed address and Raymond Thompson, 47, from Barry, were also charged.

A 21 and 22-year-old have also been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Menwhile a 38-year-old woman has been released under investigation, the force added.

Officers were called to Barry Intermodal Terminal, to the east of the town, at 5.50am on Wednesday following the discovery.   

Friends and family have paid tribute to Harry who has been described as a ‘fun loving son and brother’.

In a statement, his family, from nearby Cardiff, said: ‘Life will never be the same again without our beautiful son Harry. There was never a dull moment when you were around as your presence was so vibrant.

‘Harry is a fun loving son and brother where family time was always precious – making memories on holidays, snowmobiling in Lapland, parasailing and riding the biggest and scariest rollercoasters in America.’

The statement continued: ‘He was always having fun with his younger brother Alfie who he absolutely idolised and loved dearly, their bond was unbreakable.

‘Harry worked hard and enjoyed working alongside his dad as a carpet fitter on occasions, he always took pride in his work; he loved expressing to us whenever he received a tip from a customer. 

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: ‘We continue to appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance in the Cardiff Road and Ffordd Y Mileniwm area in Barry, sometime between midnight and 1am on Wednesday, August 28, to get in contact.’

Soon after his body was found, Detective Chief Inspector Mark O’Shea, from the major crime investigations team, said: ‘A young man has tragically lost his life and we have a dedicated team of detectives doing all we can to apprehend all those responsible.’
