Two Detroit city employees were injured Wednesday afternoon after firecrackers planted under toilet seats exploded in a bizarre ‘prank gone bad’.
Authorities said the unnamed workers were using the bathroom inside the city fire department’s apparatus repair shop, located on Erskine Street on the city’s east side, according to WXYZ-TV.
The Detroit Metro Times reports at least one of the two injured parties was hospitalized with ‘leg and scrotum’ injuries after the incident.
The other victim’s condition is unknown.

Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell told the Metro Times the incident was a ‘prank gone bad.’
Detroit Fire Fighters Association President Mike Nevin didn’t consider the stunt a laughing matter, calling it ‘an absolute embarrassment.’
‘It is important for the public to know that no DFFA employees were involved in this incident,” Nevin told the Metro Times.
Detroit Police Department’s Internal Affairs division is investigating who set the booby trap.
City officials did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail’s request for comment Thursday morning.
