Mystery surrounds the deaths of two men whose bodies were found within a kilometre of each other in a regional Victorian city.

Police found the first body at a property on Dryden Place, in Sale, at about 9.30am on Christmas Day.

A short time later, a second man was also found dead at a property on McLachlan Street, about 550 metres away.

‘The exact circumstances are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing,’ a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

It’s understood the men are known to each other.

Police do not believe there is any threat to the community.
