Two newborns discovered dead in a suitcase in Arkansas

Authorities in northeastern Arkansas are trying to determine the cause of death of newborn twins whose bodies were discovered inside of a suitcase along a rural road.

A passerby found the bodies on County Road 602, west of Wynne, Arkansas, on Friday.

The Cross County Sheriff’s Office says a preliminary autopsy found that the babies, believed to be twins, had a gestational age of about 32 to 34 weeks – about six to eight weeks premature.

The bodies were discovered Friday afternoon in a purple suitcase along a county road in Cross County, about 90 miles northeast of Little Rock.

‘When I left work this evening, I was shaken up. Like, I was in tears,’ said Santia Wallace to WREG. She lives on same street where the bodies were found.

‘Here I am want to have kids and for you to, like, kill them? Like, who does that?’

Several people of interest have been identified, according to Detective Sargeant Jeffrey Nichols.

But people in the community are still daunted by who would commit such an action.

‘It’s hard to comprehend. I mean, I wouldn’t know why anybody would abandon two little babies like that,’ said Walter Hill.

‘You could have took him to the fire station, you know, something like that. You don’t have to kill no kids,’ Wallace asserted.
