The female Senior Constable was allegedly attacked ‘to the head and throat’ as the officers were speaking to the man, the West Australian reported.

The woman allegedly ‘continued the assault by further kicking and striking the officer,’ a police spokeswoman said.

‘The male Sergeant intervened and was allegedly wrestled to the ground by the 33-year-old man.

‘The Sergeant then attempted to assist the female officer but was further assaulted by both the woman and the man.’

After using capsicum spray, the officers later called for help where additional officers and an ambulance came to the scene.

‘Both officers were conveyed to Wagin Hospital where they were treated for lacerations and bruising injuries,’ the police spokeswoman said.

The male and female occupants of the vehicle have been charged with assault of a public officer and are due to appear in the Narrogin Magistrates Court on Monday.

The officers involved have been released from hospital.
