Two security guards shot and killed at Las Vegas casino

  •  The two security staffers were killed Saturday in a room at the hotel-casino
  • The suspect initially escaped, but was found by law enforcement with a self-inflicted gunshot wound 
  • The condition of the suspect is unknown 
  • The incident comes just months after the deadly shooting on the Las Vegas Strip that killed 58 and right before the city’s New Year’s celebrations 

Two security guards were shot and killed at  Las Vegas hotel and casino in the early hours of Saturday morning.  

The shooting took place in a hotel room at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur Hotel and Casino. 

Following the shooting, the suspect escaped, but located soon afterwards at a nearby home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to KGUN9.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Further information on the shooting, including a possible motive for the act, wasn’t immediately clear. 

The names of the victims have not been released yet and the families are pending notification. 

Arizona Charlie’s Decatur is located west of the Las Vegas Strip, and is one of two Arizona Charlie’s locations in Las Vegas.

The deadly shooting comes just a day before New Year’s Eve, a major holiday for tourism in Las Vegas, and just months after the deadly Mandalay Bay shooting, which killed 58 people attending a music festival on October 1, 2017.
