Two tradies are trapped underneath fallen scaffolding at a Sydney construction site as emergency services desperately try to free them
A huge rescue mission is under way to find two tradies trapped under scaffolding after a major collapse at a construction site.
Three ambulances, firemen and a helicopter are on the scene at Macquarie Park in north-west Sydney to conduct a ‘delicate’ rescue.
It is believed two workers were trapped in the collapse around 12.30pm. They have not been found and their condition is not known.
A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said: ‘FRNSW crews are assisting @NSWAmbulance with a delicate rescue operation at a construction site in Epping Rd. Two people are trapped under a large amount of fallen scaffolding.’
New South Wales Police said in a statement: ‘Emergency services were called to Epping Road about 12.20pm after scaffolding collapsed on workers.
‘It’s believed two workers are trapped; however, crews have not yet been able to access them, and their conditions aren’t known.
‘As the operation is continuing, members of the public are urged to avoid the area.’
