Heartbroken family members have paid tribute to a ‘cheeky’ two-year-old boy who was tragically killed after being hit by a car in his own backyard.

TJ died after he was struck by the car at his Angle Vale home, in Adelaide’s north, on Saturday morning.

The toddler’s uncle said his nephew had only recently celebrated his birthday and that the ‘animated two-year-old was full of life’.

He said the boy had his ‘cheeky’ moments and brought smiles to everyone’s face.

‘Everyone just loved him. he was so full of joy,’ said his uncle, who asked not to be named.

His sister Chloe Howell set up a Gofundme page on Sunday to raise funds for TJ’s funeral.

Ms Howell described the event as ‘a freak accident’ as she asked for donations.

She said: ‘I would like to help my mother and her partner pay for the funeral as we want to give him the send off he deserves.’

Emergency services were unable to resuscitate the toddler, the youngest of six, when they arrived at his Whitelaws Court home.

The campaign has already reached $3166 of the $4500 goal, as Ms Howell took to Gofund me to show her gratitude.

‘I appreciate all the help being provided by family, friends, and the public. It really means a lot to myself and my family,’ she said.

Police have seized a white Toyota Prado Landcruiser 4WD as investigations continue into the incident.

Officers were also seen combing the backyard for evidence.

The news of the terrible accident has sent shock waves throughout the community.

According to neighbours, the family had been renting the home in the quiet cul-de-sac since the beginning of the year.
