  • All heavyweight belts will be on the line when Tyson Fury faces Anthony Joshua
  • Eddie Hearn insists the plan remains for the first of two fights to be this July

Tyson Fury insists he will smash ‘big, useless dosser’ Anthony Joshua when they meet in their heavyweight showdown, scheduled for later this year.

All the heavyweight belts will be on the line in the all-British clash, with the winner being able to achieve the same feat managed by Lennox Lewis 22 years ago.

Promoter Eddie Hearn insists the plan remains for the first of two fights to be this July, but this weekend will present the pair with multiple offers of a specific date and venue.

And speaking on a video posted to his Twitter account, the Gypsy King confirmed this weekend’s meeting with Hearn and revealed that – as reported by Sportsmail – Saudi Arabia and Qatar are among the ‘big offers on the table’ for the Battle of Britain fight.

‘Just had some big news, three or four big offers on the table, interest from Saudi Arabia, my gypsy brothers in Qatar, Uzbekistan, Russia, America and England,’ Fury said.

‘Some big, big offers on the table. I am gonna go through them on Sunday and hopefully we get this big fight on.

‘Let me smash this dosser, big, useless dosser let me say. Because when I get him, I’m gonna give him that [raises right fist], you big dosser.’

Fury’s reference to England suggests Wembley Stadium is also an option, although it remains a long shot amid doubts that the London venue may not be able to host a full capacity crowd due to the coronavirus pandemic.

One person who has endorsed the fight and it taking place at Wembley however is London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Khan said: ‘Eddie Hearn can do anything. I mean this guy is amazing. I call Eddie a friend, I’m a fan of his.

‘The fact that he pulled off Joshua-Klitschko, 90,000 was impressive. We worked closely with him.

‘I’m keen to see Joshua-Fury, I think it will be amazing. I’m not going to tell you who I’m backing, but wouldn’t it be great to see those two great boxers, world champions, boxing amongst their own fans. Both Tyson and Anthony will tell you how grateful they are to their fans in this country.

‘Eddie knows how to reach me. We’ll do what we can to support Eddie. I appreciate there’s politics in boxing as well. I appreciate there’s issues around broadcasting, there’s issues around sponsorship, but if Eddie and the teams want to have the fight in London, we’re ready.’

But regardless of where it is held, Fury’s latest post appears to put to bed fears raised by his father John that the mega-fight could be shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘There’s no money for it,’ John Fury said. ‘The timing’s all wrong.’

But Hearn responded saying: ‘We’re in a good place. I saw John Fury’s comments. It’s almost like they don’t really want the fight. I’d like them to talk it up, rather than talk it down.

‘We’re quite aware that there has been a global pandemic. We’re quite aware that it’s not easy, but we’re out there grafting away every day to get this done.

‘A little bit of support would be nice, thank you very much.

‘I know that there are some negative people out there and people that believe we can’t pull it off, but we spend a lifetime pulling things off, and I believe we will get this done, and I believe you will see this fight in the summer.’
